The things that make me, me – my character, my interests, my personality, and where I grew up – influence what my voice sounds like when I read voiceover scripts.
Upbeat
I try to be a positive person in life. I think that this fact about me comes through in my voiceovers, too.
Northern
I was born in Stockport, Cheshire. I read this BBC documentary in my Northern accent.
Young
After nearly 20 years as a professional VO, my voice still sounds as it did when I started in 2005. This means I’m a popular pick for youth work, for example adverts for colleges and universities, or explainer videos for educational institutions.
Caring/Compassionate
I enjoy championing humane causes.
Cool
I love electronic music. I’ve hosted dance music radio shows in Portugal, and promoted a multitude of music events across the UK and Europe with this “ice cold” delivery.
Technical
I grew up in a family of engineers and scientists. I’m passionate about these things, too. All of this helps me do a good job of delivering technical medical scripts.
Even more examples of my voice are on my showreels page.
I hope you found this post useful. If you think that I could be a good fit for your project, please get in touch. That’s all for now. Next time, I’ll write about the ways I can change my voice to become someone else and suit a character(s).
